I am going to state this plainly because people keep finding out sideways and then coming to me upset about it.
The Vault holds finished masters for acts that are not on the roster. Some of them are acts that have not recorded yet. I did not put them there, I do not know the mechanism, and I stopped asking in my second year because nobody above me had an answer that was better than mine.
What I do is catalogue them. They are on the shelf, they are labelled, and they are not played. That last part is mine and it is not negotiable. A record that exists before its band does is not ours to broadcast.
If your act signs here and there is already a master under your name, I will tell you, and I will let you listen to it alone in the room with the door shut. Two people have taken me up on that. One of them left the building and did not come back.
